Dr. Boehlau has over 25 years of experience as a certified orthodontist, with access to a wide range of appliances and techniques.

Active Aligner therapy done 'In-house'

This means we have complete control over the digital work flow for each individual patient’s treatment. This allows us to combine different treatment modalities. For instance, a combination of aligners with partial braces. We are also able to very quickly make appliances for our patients, reducing wait times.

What we want you to know about orthodontics

Braces and aligner treatment can come from very different providers, and understanding those differences can help you make a better long-term decision for your smile.

Direct to Consumer Companies

This is usually limited to aligner therapy. Recent bankruptcy of “Smiles Direct” has left many consumers in a bad spot. The main appeal is usually lower fees.

General Dentist

Many dentists offer orthodontic therapy, but they are not certified specialists. Offering orthodontic services does not imply that they are a specialist. Seeing a general dentist for orthodontic treatment may make sense if fees are about 25% less than a specialist. Fee guides do not exist for orthodontic services and it would be in your interest to get a quote before committing to a treatment plan. It has been our experience that most general dentists doing orthodontic therapy charge the same fees, or higher, than specialists.

Certified Specialist in Orthodontics, also known as an Orthodontist

They are dentists who have completed an additional two plus years of formalized full time orthodontic training. Further, as that is all they do all day long they have treated a high volume of cases. In Dr Boehlau’s case, over 15 000 orthodontic patients over the last 30 years.
